Shopping and our products
Do I need to bake the clay for it to harden?
No baking required. Our clays are all air dry.
Is your clay hard to work with?
CLAYCRAFT by DECO Clay is a unique polymer clay that air dries. It is strong and durable yet exceptionally light. Our clay is pliable and soft to the touch, almost silk like. It is very easy to work with. You can find it in our shop.
What are the sizes of your clay?
Our package of white clay is 137 grams (4.8 ounces) and our packages of colored clay are 55 grams (1.9 ounces).
How many flowers can I make with 1 package of clay?
Typically with one package of white clay you can make about 12 to 15 medium sized roses.
Is CLAYCRAFT by DECO soft clay safe to use as cake decorations?
Yes. Our CLAYCRAFT by DECO soft clay line is non toxic and safe to use as cake decorations, which makes it well suited to cake toppers. We recommend placing a light barrier, such as a thin layer of clear plastic, to prevent the clay colors from running into the confectionery.
How long do the flowers last before they start looking old or faded?
We have many pieces that were made over 15 years ago and the colors are still very vibrant. Continuous direct sunlight exposure will fade pieces more quickly.
My clay has gotten a bit hard. Can I do something to get it back to its new packaged state?
We guarantee unopened clay to remain fresh for 2 years from the date of purchase. If clay has been previously opened then it may have already set up and fresh clay will be required.
How can I store an open package of clay?
We recommend storing clay in an airtight container or a Ziplock bag with a damp paper towel. Change the paper towel frequently to prevent mold.
Can I paint my clay after it dries?
Absolutely. You can find our recommended paints and related materials here.
Do you have a color mixing guide?
Our CLAY ART series books have very nice color guides and instructions.
Are all the books written in Japanese?
No. Two books by Yukiko Miyai are printed in English. All other books are printed in Japanese. You can find them here.
I want to buy an instructional book in English. Which book do you recommend for beginners?
For instructional books in English, we highly recommend CLAY ART for All Seasons or CLAY ART for Special Occasions. Both are great instructional books with beautiful photos.
Just found your clay. What do you recommend as a starter to purchase? Do you sell starter kits?
Please see our shop for all offers.
Other locations are out of clay. Can I purchase directly from you?
Yes. You can order from our shop, or send us an email and you can expect a response right away.
